About McKenzie Promising Futures Fund:
In existence since 2012, McKenzie Promising Futures Fund continues to strive to offer scholarships to students attending Lansdowne Friends School. The fund was inspired by Leon C. McKenzie, President of Sure Sports. Through various financial aid programs and much family sacrifice, Leon attended LFS from '77- ‘82. He credits the school for shaping his continued learning experiences through their philosophies of faith in the integrity of each child and respect for the individual and the community. As a result, Leon created McKenzie Promising Futures Fund to help families, financially, to provide their kids with this invaluable opportunity. Leon’s company, Sure Sports matches donations yearly up to $35,000. Your contribution is tax-deductible as McKenzie Promising Futures Fund is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity (tax ID # 81-0847892).
About Lansdowne Friends School (LFS):
Lansdowne Friends School is located in Lansdowne, PA, just west of Philadelphia. It offers a unique learning atmosphere as an alternative to the congested Philadelphia public school system. Their focus is on growth in academic skills, cultivation of an inner discipline and a strong sense of self, enjoyment of learning, development of compassion and care for others. Yearly tuition for the full day program ranges from $12,000 to $15,300, and the estimated median family income in Philadelphia is $34,207. All donations to McKenzie Promising Futures Fund go directly towards scholarships to students attending Lansdowne Friends School. Sure Sports matches donations yearly up to $35,000.

"In all honesty, words cannot begin to express our gratitude to you both, the fund and Sure Sports Lending. At the time of applying for the scholarship, we were really uncertain that (Our Son) would be able to continue his education at LFS. While we both (his father and I) are working parents, the cost of tuition was starting to become out of reach. It was going to be heartbreaking to have to tell my son that he could no longer attend the school he loved so much. Having grown up in a single parent home and been homeless multiple times, I never had the stability in a school that (Our Son) has in LFS. I literally attended every school in my city because we bounced around often from house to house and shelter to shelter. However, with hard work and perseverance, I managed to do what many are not able to – succeed. I vowed that if I ever was in a position and had children that I wanted better for them. Fast forward to many years later and here we are. LFS would have been a dream come true for me. It is a dream for many. And because of your generosity, it is now a reality for our family and will continue to be a reality for our son. The scholarship that you have provided is enough to ease the financial burden and allow (Our Son) to continue to attend LFS and blossom into an even more loving, intelligent well-minded young man. The lesson he learns in compassion, kindness, humility, helping others is just as important as the academic subjects. As you know, LFS is special. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in quality. (Our Son) is able to get the individual help he needs with small classes and hand on education that he would never receive in public schools. So thank you again, for making our dream, a reality."
